Today is Robinson’s first 36-hour Giving Day – Binson Gives. An opportunity for everyone to get involved and make a gift, whatever the size, to help Robinson continue to provide a first-class education.

Thanks to generous donors gifts are being matched pound for pound so your gift is worth even more. But we only have 36-hours, so whether you matriculated this year or 40+ years ago, or you’re connected to us in another way, your gift will have its biggest impact today and tomorrow.

The Robinson College Annual Fund exists to help all aspects of College life.  It provides flexibility to deal with issues of urgent need that arise throughout the course of the year, such as:

  • Securing Academic Excellence - it is the individual colleges that bear most of the costs of the supervision system, although the majority of Government funding and fees are received by the central University.
  • Student Support - the best students are accepted on their merit alone, regardless of their financial situation and each year there are students whose financial circumstances change through no fault of their own, or who find themselves in need of financial assistance. The College is contributing an ever greater proportion of this support.
  • Building development and maintenance – maintaining the living and teaching spaces and facilities, construction of new College buildings and managing the beautiful gardens. Without this vital work the College would not be able to support student led activities like the successful productions run by The Brickhouse Theatre Company.
  • College Societies and Sports – provide an outlet and relaxation in a high-pressure environment, as well as bringing other members of the community into College.

“Having our own auditorium, tech rig and workshop is what differentiates Brickhouse from all the other college theatre societies in Cambridge. These facilities allow us to consistently put on multiple shows a term and mean we’ve come to be seen as one of the leading alternate venues to the ADC (the central university theatre). The importance of this for the college should not be underestimated: putting on shows in our in-house auditorium makes Robinson a cultural hub, which people of different colleges and outside the university will come to visit.

Alex Lindsay, 3rd Year History and Politics, Brickhouse Co-President
